Acrylic and Oil Paint supply lists

Acrylic Paint

  • Burnt Umber (2 oz.)
  • Ultramarine Blue (2 oz.)
  • Cadmium Yellow Light (2 oz.)
  • Alizarin Crimson Permanent (2 oz.)
  • Cadmium Red Medium (2 oz.)
  • Yellow Ochre (2 oz.)
  • Burnt Sienna (2 oz.)
  • Phthalo Blue (2 oz.)
  • Titanium White (5 oz.)

Other supplies

  • Palette Knife
  • Matte Medium 8 oz.
  • Spray Bottle
  • Paper Towels
  • Palette (plastic, plexiglass, ceramic, or glass)
  • Rags (old t-shirts, towels, etc.)
  • Water Container(s) (jars, cups, etc.)
  • Old Shirt, Smock, or Apron (to protect your clothing)
  • 16″ x 20″ canvas (stretched and gessoed)
  • 2B Pencil and kneaded eraser
  • Photograph or color image you would like to work from

Suggested brushes

Note: *Purchase brushes that are designed for use with acrylics. I would start with a few different sizes and types of your choice.

  • #10 or #12 flat
  • #6 or #8 flat or bright
  • #6 or #8 filbert
  • #2, #4, or #6 round

Oil Paint

  • Burnt Umber (37 ml)
  • Ultramarine Blue (37 ml)
  • Cadmium Yellow Light (37 ml)
  • Alizarin Crimson Permanent (37 ml)
  • Cadmium Red Medium (37 ml)
  • Yellow Ochre (37 ml)
  • Burnt Sienna (37 ml)
  • Phthalo Blue (37 ml)
  • Titanium White (150 ml)

Other supplies

  • Palette Knife
  • Gamsol or Odorless Mineral Spirits 16 oz.
  • Galkyd or Linseed Oil 8 oz.
  • Paper Towels Palette (plastic, plexiglass, ceramic, or glass)
  • Rags (old t-shirts, towels, etc.)
  • Glass Jar or Metal Container with lid (ie: baby food jars)
  • Old Shirt, Smock, or Apron (to protect your clothing)
  • 16″ x 20″ canvas (stretched and gessoed)
  • 2B Pencil and Kneaded Eraser
  • Photograph or color image you would like to work from
