Drawing Skills
Five 1/2-days, Monday-Friday, June 11-15

Morning

Students will start out with simple lessons covering basic drawing techniques and foundational elements, and build them into successful and finished drawings. Graphite pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, pastels, and markers will be the materials used. Subject matter will cover still lifes, animals, portraits and landscapes. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Youth Sculpture
Five 1/2-days, Monday-Friday, June 11-15

Afternoon

Students will learn basic sculpture techniques and have the opportunity to experiment with various mediums. Wire, plaster wrap, wood, air-dry modeling clay, foam core, and fabric will all be used to create abstract and realistic hard and soft sculptures. This is a great introductory sculpture class for any student! Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Pirates of the "Clay"-ribean
Five 1/2-days, Monday-Friday, June 18-22

Students will create handbuilt sea creatures, pirate ships, treasure and a dessert island. Bring your imagination, images and stories of your favorite Pirates of the Caribbean characters and be ready to create. Due to the nature of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will need to be picked up 3 weeks after the last class day. Projects not picked up by Friday, Sept 28 will be recycled. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Cartoons and Comics

Do you love to create cartoons and comics? In this drawing class we'll look at different cartoon and comic styles for inspiration and then create some of our own. Students will learn how to develop cartoon characters, write storylines and create cartoon strips and comic books. Join us and discover your hidden cartoon genius! Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Drawing to Painting

Drawing and painting are at the foundation of nearly all art. We will start out by learning basic drawing techniques and build them into successful watercolor, tempera and acrylic paintings. Using contemporary fashion trends as inspiration, students will design and create awesome accessories from traditional and non-traditional fashion materials. 3-D Painting and Drawing

Students will create fun and vibrant 3-dimensional drawings and paintings using tag board, watercolor paper, chipboard and foam core. Paints and drawing materials will be used in combination with various visual arts techniques including: collage, image transfer and basic paper relief sculpture techniques. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Dyeing & Fabric Painting

Students will create fun and vibrant paintings on muslin and cotton fabrics using dyes, fabric paints, fabric inks, and fabric markers. Embellishments will be added and some basic sewing techniques covered. Each student will finish the class with a colorful and hangable fabric art piece. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Illustration Arts
Five 1/2-days, Monday-Friday, July 9-13

In this class we will learn the process of illustrating a children's book, from writing, layout, and sketching, to final inking and binding process. You will be able to sketch an entire 8-10 page children's book, and complete 3-5 illustrations using the media of your choice; graphite, pen and ink, colored pencils, watercolor and markers. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

In this ceramics class students will create functional and decorative clay pieces using basic handbuilding techniques. Mugs, bowls, vases, pencil holders, book ends and platters are a few of the possible projects students will make and glaze. Due to the nature of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will need to be picked up 3 weeks after the last class day. Projects not picked up by Friday, Sept 28 will be recycled. In this kid's ceramics class we will create handbuilt mythical creatures, wonderful wizards, magical forests and castles. Bring your imagination, images and stories of your favorite Harry Potter characters, some of your own ideas for fabled creatures and be ready to create. Acrylic Painting Techniques

In this painting class students will learn the basics of using acrylic paint. Projects will focus on how to; mix and control gradations in color, stamp, blend, dry-brush, create washes, utilize collage, texturize and use acrylic modifiers. Observational and skill building goals will be covered to instruct students on how to break down an image into simple shapes, dark and light, warm and cool colors, and train the eye to see reflective light. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

My Bedroom Rocks!

Students will design handmade bedroom décor including a bed pocket, paper portraits, personalized hobby boxes, picture frames, and paper lanterns (to name a few). Mixed media processes will be taught and ample time for exploration and experimentation given. This is a great class for those students interested in interior design and mixed-media art disciplines. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Students must bring a bag lunch and snacks as needed for this all-day class. Have fun and let your imagination go wild in this fast paced full-day class! Children will learn basic theatre terminology, create their own play with a theatre artist, and create set pieces, costumes, props, and more with a visual artist for a unique all-around collaborative experience. Invite your family and friends to view the final presentation and show off your theatrical talents. The final performance will be from 3:00-3:30 pm on the last day of class. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9

Mosaic Art

Mosaic is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. In this class students will create small mosaic art pieces including tiles, boxes and faux mosaics with clay. Kids will design their mosaic images, choose their materials, adhere them to a matrix and grout the final piece. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 7-9
