In this basic painting class students will learn how to use acrylic paints in a variety of ways. Paint mixing, texturizing, stamping, block-out and sgraffito processes will be taught. Abstract and animal subjects will be used to create colorful and dynamic compositions and finished art pieces. Please dress for mess as acrylic paints will stain clothing. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 5-7

In this mixed-media class students will design and construct 3-dimensional animal sculptures and a decorative mask out of paper mache and other arts and crafts materials. The first two days will entail constructing the projects. On the last day students will paint and add embellishments to their sculptures for finishing. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 5-7

Class projects will focus on still life observation, cartoons and children's book illustration examples. Students will use different fabrics, embroidery threads, inks, fabric markers and other embellishments to create a 2-dimensional fabric collage image. Do you love to draw animals? In this class students will learn how to use foundational art elements to accurately draw different kinds of animals. Students will learn how to design, illustrate and engineer a one-of-a-kind tunnel book. What’s a tunnel book you ask? It's a 3-dimensional book with a “stage-like” window containing different layers of images. Students will start by designing their book's image. Then we'll separate the information into different foreground, mid-ground and background layers and construct the book. Basic drawing and collage techniques will be covered.

Students will use glass and ceramic mosaic pieces to create a colorful and decorative keepsake box. The inside of the boxes will be painted and the bottom covered with felt. Gyotaku Fish Prints

“Gyotaku” is the ancient Japanese folk art of painting fish. The first Gyotaku were created to preserve the true record and size of species caught by Japanese anglers as far back as 1862. Students will use rubber molds created from real fish and sea life and relief block inks to create colorful and interesting relief print Gyotaku fish images. Enrollment limited to 16, ages 5-7
