PLEASE REGISTER EARLY
We hate to cancel classes, and we know you dislike cancellation calls from the Art Center, but we need to make a decision about a week before a session begins as to whether to run a class or not. Unfortunately, we get several calls after a class has been cancelled, so please help us deliver better service by registering early to secure your space in a class.
Registrations will be accepted after a class has begun if space permits and with the permission of the instructor.
Tuition is not pro-rated for students who enroll late.
Registrations are date stamped and classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis, so call us or send your form in right away.

Based on a nationally recognized model, this format enables students to rapidly advance in understanding and applying the concepts. The instructor will be using film, but certainly participants can use digital processes because, of course, seeing is not about the equipment.

Making Photographs
Instructor: Carl Beihl
Skill Level: I, AD
Would you like to develop a personal style, strengthen your original vision, and broaden the way you think about photography? This class is to help serious amateur and professional photographers find more passion in their work by exploring the narrative, aesthetic, and emotional aspects of image making, with an emphasis on simplicity and the use of natural light. Through practical demonstrations, field trips, individual portfolio reviews, and studying the work of both historically significant and little-known photographers, we refine our views on producing work and balancing the various aspects of busy life.

High Narrative: Imaging Fantasy While Picturing Reality
Instructor: Nathan Lewis
Skill Level: AB, I
It has been said that all the greatest photographers are mythologists (Roland Barthes). As photographers we have the ability to create worlds and redefine truths, all through the prism of our camera. Utilizing lighting, movement, time, costumes, characters, and locations you can lead a viewer to your distinct vision. Throughout this course we will learn the different ways to manifest your imagination by employing the uniqueness of photography and terrestrial props. In addition to actual picture making, we will discuss the impact of stories and importance of symbology with a theoretical component. This is not a technical course. Students will be expected to have a proficient understanding of their camera and its functions.
Enrollment limited to 12; ages 16 and up
