Photo Basics: Composition, Time & Subject
Instructor: Risë Ferster
Skill Level: B, AB

The building blocks to making good photographs are composition (including framing, angle, light), the element of time, and the choice of subject. We'll learn about these controls while creating our own revealing, amusing, and interesting photographs of the world around us. By looking at the work of other photographers, we will expand our ideas of the image. Use your digital camera or 35mm black and white film camera if you have darkroom experience. Bring cameras, manuals and some of your photos to the first class. Enrollment limited to 10; ages 18 and up

Through shooting exercises and discussion, we will explore what makes a successful portrait for your vision of the genre. We will use available light rather than strobes in this class. You can use digital or 35mm black and white film cameras if you have darkroom experience. Bring camera, manuals, and some photos to share at the first class. Enrollment limited to 10; ages 18 and up
