THOMAS PAQUETTE GOUACHES AND OILS

June 26 - August 7, 2008
Laura H. Miles Gallery
Open to the public

Opening Reception
Thursday, June 26, 6 - 9 pm

Thomas Paquette is known for his large landscape oil paintings, meticulously layered and reworked to render complex effects of light, scale and context. He began experimenting with small gouache studies in the field, intending to use them as reference notes for his larger works. He soon found that these often tiny compositions had become important statements on their own. The opaque water-based gouache technique allows the artist to layer, scrape and rework these paintings to the same level of obsessive attention as with his larger works in oil. Paquette's gouache paintings are intimate revelations of technique, composition and observation.

Please Register Early
We hate to cancel classes, and we know you dislike cancellation calls from the Art Center, but we need to make a decision about a week before a session begins as to whether to run a class or not. Unfortunately, we get several calls after a class has been cancelled, so please help us deliver better service by registering early to secure your space in a Winter class.

Registrations will be accepted after a class has begun if space permits and with the permission of the instructor. Tuition is not pro-rated for students who enroll late.

Registrations are date stamped and classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis, so call us or send your form in right away.

Through practical demonstrations, field trips, individual portfolio reviews, and studying the work of both historically significant and little-known photographers, we refine our views on producing work and balancing the various aspects of busy life.
