A book signing event and art extravaganza! – FREE FAMILY EVENT!

What:
A book signing event by Tomie dePaola. During the book signing the Minnetonka Center
for the Arts will be providing a bookmaking activity for children and adults of all ages.
Participant will have the opportunity to create a handmade book to take home with them.

Fabulous Fashionistas! (Fee-based class)

Do you love to accessorize? Do you love to wear things that no one else has? Then this is the class for you. Using contemporary fashion trends as inspiration, students will design and create awesome accessories from traditional and non-tradition fashion materials. Bags, scarves and jewelry are some examples of the projects that we will explore in this wildly creative and terribly trendy fashion class.

Beginning / Intermediate Youth Pottery (Fee-based class)
Learn to create functional and decorative pottery by exploring the many ways to work with clay. Using handbuilding techniques students will create a variety of ceramic projects including mugs, bowls, boxes, and decorative clay sculptures. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, some projects will need to be picked-up two weeks after the last class day.

Intro to Comic Concepts (Fee-based class)
In this course we will be studying the basic concepts of creating a comic through character development, panel progression, page composition and story development and pacing. We will be looking at comic strips and multiple page comics, and creating both. No previous comic training necessary.

Drawing to Painting (Fee-based class)
Drawing and painting are at the foundation of nearly all art. We will start out by learning simple drawing techniques and build them into successful paintings on both paper and canvas panels. Realistic and abstract subjects will be explored and basic color mixing and painting techniques will be covered.
