Children's Birthday Parties at the Art Center

Art Birthday Party Hours
The summer Saturday birthday party hours are 10:30am – 12:30pm.
Now through August 30, 2008
Saturdays only.

We supply the teacher, the materials and hands-on art activity with professional supervision.
You supply the kids dressed in mess-up clothes.

Art Birthday Party Fees
One and a quarter hour art experience followed by 45 minutes for dessert and presents.

Fee (Ages 5 - 12)
1 - 10 participants:
$130 members / $150 non-members

11 - 20 participants:
$270 members / $300 non-members

> Extra charges may apply for a longer party.
> Full payment due when party is booked.
> Full payment minus $20 administrative fee is refunded if event is cancelled two weeks before date.

Art Center provides:
> The teacher, materials, hands-on art activity with professional supervision and a separate room for dessert and presents.

You provide:
> The kids dressed in mess-up clothes, refreshments, decorations and supervision for the dessert and presents.

Your party guests will take a one-of-a-kind piece of art home with them. We’ll discuss theme and specific activities.

Note to parents:
For all birthday party classes, participating children should be dressed for mess. The Art Center uses high-quality water-based materials, some of which may stain clothing.

GROUP A: 5-7 YEARS

Marvelous Masks and Magical Hats:
Come create a birthday disguise! This birthday fun includes making a hat and mask with glitter, markers, paper, feathers, and other wacky mediums. Parents won’t know who’s masquerading under this creative camouflage!

Put on a Puppet Show:
Do you like to put on a performance for your friends and family? Here’s your opportunity to come and make your own multi-media hand and stick puppets using a variety of materials. Birthday goers can even design a puppet stage to perform for parents!

Many Ways to Paint:
There are many fun and interesting ways to paint. For this birthday project, you will paint with string, tissue paper, coffee filters, soap, straws, sponges and your fingers. The sky is the limit with your creativity and these interesting materials!

Cool Cats & Crazy Critters:
Come read fun storybooks and look at fantastic illustrations of imaginary animals and characters. Using these images as inspiration, we will then draw, paint, and collage our own fanciful creatures and characters.

Underwater World:
Do you like sea creatures and plant life? This birthday treat includes creating your own underwater world using painting, drawing and collage materials. You can also make your own artistic aquarium!

GROUP B: 8-9 YEARS

Masters of the Art Universe:
Come learn about, and create art like the Masters did. Vincent Van Gogh, Georges Seurat, Salvador Dali, and Henry Matisse are just a few of the major players that birthday goers could learn about. Maybe create your own movement and become a “Master” yourself!

Toons and Tales:
Do you like to draw funny pictures and cartoons? For this birthday fun we will learn how to draw caricatures of our family and friends and develop our own characters and stories for our own comic strips. Come and discover your hidden comedic talents!

Party with Paint:
Do you love to paint? For this birthday project, you will experiment and expand on your painting talents while learning basic skills. Watercolor and tempera paints will be used for their stylistic flexibility and range. The sky is the limit with your creativity and these interesting materials!

Jewelry Making:
Beads, belts, rings, headbands, bracelets, pins, necklaces and pendants are just a few of the many projects you could create during this birthday bash! Take your pick, get creative, and learn to make beautiful and fun jewelry you can wear anytime!

Picasso – Drawing to Painting:
Come and learn about Pablo Picasso and his wacky portraits. You will get to create your own Picasso by learning some simple drawing and painting techniques inspired by Pablo and his unique perspective on life.

GROUP C: 10-12 YEARS

Modern Art Madness:
Come learn how to paint and draw like the “Mod Squad”. Georgia O’Keefe, Jackson Pollack, Andy Warhol, Faith Ringgold and Roy Lichtenstein are just a few of the major players that birthday goers could learn about. Your only limit is your imagination!

Introduction to Cartooning:
Do you doodle? Do you like to tell stories? Put your imagination and drawing skills to good use during this party favorite. Birthday goers will design characters and create their own comic strip. Come and discover your comic genius!

Painting Techniques for Young Artists:
Are you ready to experiment with paint? For this birthday project, you will create paintings with numerous art media, such as watercolor, tempera paints, tissue paper, oil pastels, stamping and collage. Come push the limits of your creativity with these interesting materials!

Fashion Frenzy:
Are you the “fashionista” in your group of friends? Come and use your talents to design and create your own jewelry and accessories during this birthday bash! Get creative, and learn to make beautiful and fun jewelry and accessories that you can show-off to all of your friends!

Printmaking for Kids:
Printmaking is a process where you can make numerous copies of the same art piece. In this class we will learn about surface texture, different types of printmaking, and what it takes to create a print. Birthday goers will have lots of art to show off after this party!
