Cost Per Student:
$25 per student for one AM or PM session
$50 per student for the all-day classes
$60 per student for 3-D Shapes from Sheet Metal, Mixed-Media Sculpture, and Traditional Black & White Photography classes

Payment is due upon registration. The Art Center accepts cash, checks and Visa, MasterCard and American Express. To register your troop (or scout) please call 952 473-7361, ext. 16.
Lunch and snacks are NOT provided by the Art Center. Students will take a 10-15 minute break during the 2.5 hour classes. Please bring a bag lunch for the lunch break (if your child is participating in both an AM & PM session or an all-day class).
Cancellation, Class Changes, Refund Policy
• No refunds will be issued 0 - 7 days prior to the class start date.
• Students who withdraw 8 - 14 days prior to the class start date will receive a 50% refund and charged a $5 administrative fee per class.
• Students who withdraw 15 or more days prior to the class start date will receive a 100% refund and charged a $5 administrative fee per class.
• In case of documented illness, the Art Center may request a doctor’s note for tuition reimbursement. A $5.00 administration fee will be charged.
• In the event the Art Center must cancel a session due to insufficient enrollment, a full refund will be issued. If we must cancel a session, we will notify parents before the class is scheduled to start.
• Art Center reserves the right to cancel classes that do not have enrollment of six or more students.
• To assure that each student has a good learning experience, classes have a maximum number of 12-16 students per class.

3-D Shapes from Sheet Metal (All-Day Class)
(All-Day Class 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Metalwork” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 12-15 students
Students will get an introduction to the techniques of turning mild sheet metal into 3D works of art. Students will learn how to: make patterns and form jigs; use the cutting torch and shears to cut shapes; solder and braze; and bend and form metal to create compound shapes, which will be theirs to take at the end of class. Students may not complete an entire sculpture, but should expect to develop a familiarity with basic safety rules, use of tools, different metal properties and how to work with sheet metal.
NOTE: Sculpture room dress code: Full-length cotton jeans, long-sleeve cotton / flannel shirt, close-toed tennis shoes or leather boots and leather gloves.

Mixed-Media Sculpture (All-Day Class)
(All-Day Class 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Sculpture” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 12-15 students
Mixed Media Sculpture is an opportunity for students to explore the various materials commonly used in the practice of contemporary sculpture. Materials could include, (but are not limited to): wire, metal, plastic, wood, clay, paint, plaster, composite materials and found objects. This class is an excellent place to begin your exploration of the third dimension.
NOTE: Sculpture room dress code: Full-length cotton jeans, long-sleeve cotton / flannel shirt, close-toed tennis shoes or leather boots and leather gloves.

Traditional Black & White Photo (All-Day Class)
(All-Day Class 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Photography” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 8 students
Discover the world of traditional black and white photography. Students will learn how to; make high quality images by using their camera correctly, know what films are appropriate for different photo shoots and applications, process film and print images. The Art Center has cameras that students can use. However, you are welcome to bring your own 35 mm manual camera as well. Students must bring to class: one roll 35mm Tri-X black and white film (24 or 36 exposures) and 8” x 11” Ilford Pearl finish photographic paper (pack of 10 sheets). National Camera Exchange or West Photo carry all of these items.

Theatre Arts (All-Day Class)
(All-Day Class 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Theatre” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 16 students
Are you an extroverted or imaginative person who loves acting and creating? If so, then this is the class for you! This is a full-day class where students will develop, write and create a play from concept to finished piece. Students will spend the day writing their scripts, practicing their parts, designing costumes, props and the set. There will be a performance for family and friends from 3:10-3:30 PM.

MORNING 1/2-DAY CLASSES
Ceramic Handbuilding (Morning 1/2-Day Class)
(AM Class 9:30 AM - 12 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Pottery” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 15-20 students
In this class students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of ceramic handbuilding, modifying and finishing techniques. Classes will involve lectures, viewing of artwork examples, process and technique demonstrations, and instruction on pinch, slab and coil handbuilding techniques. Safety and appropriate use of the slab roller and extruder will also be covered. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will need to be picked up 3 weeks after the workshop.

Basic Painting (Morning 1/2-Day Class)
(AM Class 9:30 AM - 12 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Art” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 20 students
This class will introduce students to basic painting techniques in watercolor, tempera and acrylic. Class instruction will cover brush handling, blending, stenciling, stamping, wet-to-dry techniques, wet-on-wet techniques, collage and mixed-media techniques. Subject matter will include still life and abstract compositions. Various famous painters will be viewed and their techniques discussed and demonstrated.

Afternoon 1/2-Day Classes:
Relief Printing (Afternoon 1/2-Day Class)
(PM Class 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Graphic Arts” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 12-15 students
Have you ever wanted to design and print your own posters or pieces of art? In this class students will learn the basics of reduction relief block printing on paper. From design to finished product, student will plan their ideas; map out color separations (2-3 colors) and layering techniques; and master cutting and printing techniques. Water-based inks will be used.

Drawing Fundamentals (Afternoon 1/2-Day Class)
(PM Class 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM)
This class satisfies the requirements for the “Art” merit badge activity.
Maximum: 20 students
This class will introduce students to various black and white drawing materials. Class assignments will consist of technical and skill building exercises as well as different ways of getting started on drawing. Most of the assignments will focus on still life observation and learning how to use line, shape, form, shadow and texture to build an interesting and dynamic composition. Perspective and cartooning will also be covered.
